Making data driven decisions helps you find angles that are not apparent in a regular form guide. We tipped the longest price winner in the last two seasons when Bright Inheritance saluted at $164. We then buttered up with a $40 winner in Huge Wave on the same day.

Our easy-to-follow strategy seeks to maximise overlays while using a more conservative staking plan than Kelly betting. We use a value weighted Dutching method.
Recommended unit size is 1% of bank.
Example, a recommended bet of 1.28 units on a $1000 bank would be 1.28 x 10 (1% of 1000) = $12.80
Outline of Bet Strategy
Controlled Risk: Meeting-level cap + per-race scaling avoids overexposure.
Positive Expectation: Only bets when edge exists (overlays).
Diversification: Value-weighted Dutching spreads risk, lowering variance vs. all-in.
Transparency: Clear overlays, colour coding, and per-race/unit totals.
Discipline: Automatic exclusion of volatile Class 5/Griffin races.

At hkspeedking, even with all the data at our fingertips, we still work through the form manually and systematically to get a good understanding of each race.
Data, charts and reports can help you form a cohesive picture of the race in your mind.
There's a lot to keep track of, the raceday worksheet (see completed sample below) is designed to help subscribers organise their thoughts and selections for each race in a logical, easy to interpret fashion.
Users are free to use the data as they please, the worksheet is just an option for keeping your analysis focused and summarised on one page. Personally, I find that filling it in the worksheet by hand gets me to investigate the detail in each report.

DOWNLOAD THE USER GUIDE
The worksheet template is optional for users of our race day data reports. It is best suited to HK Bundle users where all reports are included. Some prefer to do their own thing with the data; others need a structure to adhere to when analysing a race. Personally, I prefer to use this form as a way of crystallising my final thoughts. I perform my computer analysis first, database, spreadsheets etc, then I summarise on the raceday worksheet.

Make this a key weapon in your form analysis arsenal.
The race ranking heat map compares over 20 key statistics and assigns each horse a rank.
A great starting point for your race-by-race horse comparison analysis.
Discover longshots that Rank 1 in one or more categories and are not obvious selections in the form guide. Horses are sorted in average rank order (lowest being the best)

PEAK RATINGS BY PREP

INTERPRETING THE PEAK RATING CHART
This chart displays each horse’s peak performance rating across its last five preparations (Preps)
The focus is on PEAK PERFOMANCES using our in-house Class Ratings.
X-axis shows prep order, with the most recent run on the left.
Y-axis represents the peak class rating per prep — higher means better performance.
The chart plots the peak rating for the prep only, summarising true ability.
Coloured lines trace each horse’s rating trend across preps (rising, falling, or flat).
The dotted black line is the median rating at each prep, serving as a benchmark.
Horses above the median line are generally in stronger form; those below may be less competitive.
Upward-sloping lines suggest improving form, downward slopes indicate decline, and flat lines imply consistency.
The summary box in the bottom left highlights the top 4 most recent peak ratings, providing a quick reference to the strongest last-prep performances.

1st - Happy Daily $32 2nd - Midori Fuji $13 3rd - Sky Vino at $3.40
PERFORMANCE RATINGS BY RECENT STARTS

INTERPRETING THE RECENT STARTS CHART
This chart illustrates how each horse has performed over its last five race starts, based on their actual race ratings (not just peak ratings), giving a broader view of recent consistency and overall form. Here's how to read it:
X-axis represents the last 5 starts, with the most recent race on the left.
Y-axis shows the actual rating each horse received in those starts.
Coloured lines show the trajectory of each horse's performance across the 5 runs.
The black dashed line represents the median rating at each start, serving as a benchmark for comparison.
Horses consistently performing above the median line are generally in better and more reliable form.
Rising lines suggest improving performance; falling lines indicate form deterioration.
The summary box at the bottom left highlights the top 4 most recent race ratings, useful for identifying in-form horses heading into today’s race.
Form Reinforcement: When PREP and RECENT START CHARTS ALIGN
Both Happy Daily and Midori Fuji featured prominently near the top in this chart as well as in the Peak Rating by Prep chart, indicating:
Strong recent race-day performances (actual ratings).
High peak prep ratings, suggesting they're not only consistent but also capable of producing top-level efforts.
This alignment across both charts strengthened their case as leading contenders in Race 6 at Happy Valley.

EARLY SPEED
As any experienced punter knows, early speed is critical to determining the outcome of a race. The early speed chart helps you to identify LIKELY early positions in running. Historical pace data is compared against today's field.

The actual early positions during the race are shown below.

INTERPRETING THE EARLY SPEED CHART
The early speed chart is based on a horse’s historical performance through the early sections of the race.
It is a direct comparison between the competing horses expressed as an advantage in lengths.
In the example shown, Speedy Fortune had a 4.7 length advantage over the median early speed for the race.
Speedy Fortune had a 0.5 length advantage over the next quickest early speed horse, Joyful Life. He also had a lower draw and was likely to lead.
Glorious Expert raced against his usual pattern in racing on pace and faded late.
Barriers, jockey and trainer intent, lack of exposed form can all influence early speed projections, but generally it is a good starting point for race mapping.
Trial form can sometimes flag a change in early speed tactics for a horse.
EARLY, MID AND LATE SPEED VERSUS RACE
This stacked chart shows the horses EARLY; MID and LATE speed combined in one bar. Although each section historically is subject to the overall race pace, this chart can be very useful for identifying runners that have been undervalued by the market.

1st - Sky Cap $29 2nd - Bienvue $5.6 3rd - New Power $10
Note: Jumbo Treasure ran 4th as $3.80 fav
SPEED RANKING HEAT MAP
The speed ranking heatmap chart ranks horses in the race by early speed, mid-race speed, late speed and overall speed. The horse with the lowest average rank is listed first.
Identifying horses with the number one rank in any category can be a useful tool for finding value runners.
It can also be useful in highlighting runners that might benefit from a pace or track bias.

1st - Leather Master $9.40 2nd - Mr Aladdin $8.80

A reliable guide to a horse's fitness level and readiness for today's race is its body weight. This is particularly useful in the light of past trends. Which bodyweights align with peak performances?
Does the horse have a narrow range in which it can perform or can it perform across a wide range of body weights. The bodyweight chart can help to remove the guesswork
